THURSDAY’S MOST PLAYED: JUST LET ME HIDE MY WEARY HEART IN YOU

by lauren h

Welcome to my top five most-played songs since last Thursday. I like to post these because, well, it’s pretty damn entertaining when the songs obviously suggest a certain mood of mine over the past week – especially if I was unaware of it! In this case, said mood is not so entertaining – much more along the lines of “my old friend the blues” (as you’ll see):

  • Julie Miller “Broken Things”
  • Dave Alvin/Tom Russell “California Snow”
  • Lucinda Williams “Drunken Angel”
  • David Allan Coe “Spotlight”
  • Steve Earle & Emmylou Harris “Goodbye” (an absolute favorite of mine)

Videos after the jump!

Julie Miller “Broken Things”

Tom Russell “California Snow”

Lucinda Williams “Drunken Angel”

David Allan Coe “Spotlight”

Steve Earle with Emmylou Harris “Goodbye”

Well, I didn’t realize my song choices been shrouded in such sadness and heartbreak! I blame January (bad weather + holiday withdrawals = always a letdown of a month). But hey, they’re actually some of my favorite songs, sad or otherwise – “Spotlight” is one of DAC’s best, in my opinion, and Steve Earle with Emmylou Harris just leaves you speechless. They make pain sound beautiful.  How many current artists have you heard pull that off?
